Che'perd

REPUBLIC TROOPER - COMMANDO Specialization - Level 23

I initially had no interest in the Trooper class in the game, but when Tohru told me that the female trooper was voiced by Jennifer "FemShep" Hale, my tune immediately changed. You could say I'm a fan. So I tinkered myself up a cool, N7-inspired lady jarhead and prayed that no one notices that her name's just a lame pun. She's the first character I created who wasn't a standard human (she's a Cyborg), owing to her namesake's history with biomechanical implants.

'Perdie is a pretty straightforward soldier; she always has a solution and she never lets her enemies or subordinates see her doubt. I really didn't like the Havok Squad scandal and how the Republic tried to cover it all up (twice!), though, and as a result Che'pard doesn't show her superiors in the military or Senate much respect any more. So far it hasn't impacted her career advancement too badly, though it does sometimes become a point of contention between her and her pet cat.

On my Legacy tree, Perdie is listed as an ally to both my Jedi characters. I run with the assumption that she served under Jahnn when she was a little younger, and Jahnn's quietly watched her career progress ever since, subtly helping her along whenever needed.

STANDARD-ISSUE OVERCOAT

I actually liked the starting uniform for the trooper; it's got some dignity and it's not boring like most of the other classes'. It reminds me a little of some of the uniforms that the Rebel Alliance used in the original trilogy.
"Ours is not to question why, ours is to observe the SOP and salute anything you can't eat or kill." - Larry Hama

I imagine this is how Perdie looked right out of academy (maybe with a practical military bob or pigtails). Perdie clearly practiced this salute every day in the mirror. She's so dedicated.

DUROS DURAPLATE ARMOR

This was an early random drop Perdie was lucky enough to find on Ord Mantell. I liked how it looked more like real armor than just standard-issue clothing; its higher armor rating made sense.
Perdie also got her first new gun around this time, and her long, torrid love affair with advanced firearms began. She's usually a very easygoing person, but her appriciation for bigger and better blasters can have her giggling like a schoolgirl if you wave a new weapon in front of her inventory screen.
A good close-up that illustrates just how flexible that duraplate must be, to define her figure in such detail. Some sort of miraculous clothing technology, I'm sure. In any event, I really liked this as a starting outfit and was actually disappointed by the next armor I'd receive, by comparison.

FORT COMMANDER'S CHESTGUARD

TORHead lists this outfit as a commendation purchase on Ord Mantell, but I was almost positive that this was a quest reward item. Either way, it's a snappy little jumpsuit and I liked the pockets. It just didn't seem like a step up, visually, from the previous armor-plated chestpiece.
Perdie sure fills it out well, though, doesn't she? I liked the jumpsuit theme to it, military but not too strict. It looked to me like something that a soldier on base might throw on when he's not on duty.
Note the Unit patch on the right shoulder. I thought that was a nice touch. All in all, though, this outfit just looks too scrawny for a kick-butt super trooper to depend on at this point. I was a little disappointed.

TD-17A TALON JACKET

Partway through the Corruscant questlines, the game finally saw fit to grace poor Perdie with a set of modifiable armor... And being the picky, ungrateful little snot I am, I didn't like it. It's clearly a retexture of her previous Fort Commander's outfit, and while there are some better colors and a more fun color scheme, I have the same problem with it that I had with Perdie's last outfit: it's not heavy-duty enough for a trooper!
I have to admit the outfit looks cool, though. I could see a Pilot or Technician/Hacker character wearing one of these jumpsuits and making it look really good. On Perdie, though, it just underscores how un-armored she is; Republic troopers are always portrayed wearing heavy powered armor. When oh when will Perdie get hers..?
But such meloncholy is quickly forgotten, since at level 10 Perdie also recieves her Commando specialization... and a big honkin' gun! Perdie is now happy!
Che'perd approves of her new Standard-Issue Repeating Blaster! But don't worry about damage to the ship; that's what Aric's for (when he's not mucking out the toilets)!

TEMPERED LAMINOID CHESTGUARD

As Perdie was transferred to Taris, I decided that enough was enough. If the Repbulic military wouldn't properly outfit their star soldier, then her old war buddy Jahnn would! Jahnn pulled some strings on the Galactic Market, and presto! One can't help but wonder what price she'll eventually have to pay, knowing Jahnn's penchant for trapping pretty ladies into insidious games of Nar Shadaa rules Pazak, but in the meantime Perdie is finally armored up like a true Commando should be.

Perdie assures that no hostiles are hidden in the cargo bay of her ship. This was a lot more like what I wanted; heavy armor that's obviously meant to stop anything short of a nuke. It's not modifiable, so I expect I'll be retiring it eventually, but so far it's made it a lot easier to progress solo through Taris. The helmet (a matching Tempered Laminoid Helmet) is bulky but I kind of like it. Just the same, I usually keep the headslot hidden, though.
Here's a nice long-view shot of the outfit. It's even in Havok Squad colors; I imagine Perdie must have squeeled like a little girl when the armor supply shipment arrived. Probably freaked Aric out really good.
Perdie continues a field-check of her new equipment, confirming that Jahnn hasn't left any surprises anywhere in the amror's monitoring systems.
And the verdict is in; Perdie approves of her new combat armor! This has some nice detail work on it; little dents and blemishes that suggest this suit's been through a few firefights, but without ruining the appearance of it.

One final test, to confirm that the new armor doesn't interfere with her aim. "Yo, Aric, go stand over there by the wall and put this apple on your head. That's an order."

RELAXED JUMPSUIT JACKET

But even amazon super-soldiers can't wear their armor all the time. Perdie awakens from a nap, having shed some of the heavier bits of her Laminoid plating. Getting up is hard to do, sometimes.
I grabbed this off the galactic market on a whim after I came into a boatload of credits for selling a rare set of armor. I felt it looked appropriate for what a jarhead would wear when she's off-duty and just hanging around the ship. A tank-top would've been preferable, but this is the next best thing. Perdie better be careful; Jahnn and his Pazak deck are often attracted by bare midriffs...
Time to get some work done! Che'perd sets to work welding some new tiles over the wall, replacing the old ones stained by Aric's blood and entrails.
Perdie stops to catch her breath, giving us a nice look at the detail on the outfit. It really does look like what might be underneath that armored powersuit of hers; straps and buckles to secure everything together.
Some more detailing, presumably from the perspective of Jahnn's spy camera. The arm straps add a lot to the outfit's look, I think. Without being too misogynistic, though, I think it's kind of weird how she only seems to have one large, wide breast that stretches all the way across her chest, from this angle. o.0

OVERKILL HARDENED ASSAULT CHESTGUARD

Outfit Added 04-25-2013

Another care package from the suspect but well-meaning Jahnn, and Perdie finds herself outfitted in L23 armor! The grey is a departure from traditional Havoc Squad colors, but the outfit continues to build our lady trooper further into Heavy Armor territory.

Perdie crafted the greaves herself, actually. First time I've ever pushed a character's crafting skill to the point they made something advanced enough to actually use.

The peices of this new armor fit together visually a lot better than the previous Tempered Laminated Chestguard did. It looks more like a single, sealed outfit.

Che'perd approves! She's come a long way from enemy-fire-attracting white and orange jumpsuits.

Perdie's really liking the new armor; it's so flexible!
One can't help but wonder how she'd react if Aric or someone burst into the room and caught her posing in front of the mirror like this. She'd likely have to off him and dump the body somewhere.
