D'akemi knows no compromise. She has her personal code and will not be swayed from it by circumstance, law, or even her Order's rules. She holds herself to a very high standard, and holds those around her to this same standard as well. Serious and sometimes over-confident, she often comes off to other Jedi as headstrong. Or stubborn.
This is likely why the Order quickly partnered her with aspiring Jedi Sage Chevran. In any other situation, D'akemi would be the rebel. Paired with this reckless fringe Jedi, though, she's the voice of reason and authority. If these two Jedi want to test boundaries, the Council reasoned, then they can be made to test one another's instead of the Jedi Order's.
D'akemi is less than thrilled about this arrangement, but also seems to be slowly warming to her partner. Like a good big sister, she tries to look out for him and keep him out of trouble, and in return Chevran seems to have made it his life's goal to get her to lighten up more.
This character was the player's first foray into the wild world of tanking, and so far has been played almost exclusively partnered with my character Chevran. It was also, I think, a way to cleanse the pallet after playing so many long-range characters. I love how Tohru is, intentionally or not, developing her into kind of a Jedi Nun look. It suits her personality and her role vis a vis Chevran so well.

Update - 05-11-2013 And on the untamed forest world of Tython, aspiring Jedi Knight D'akemi appears. Headstrong and motivated by a powerful personal sense of right and wrong, this Miralukan Jedi is perfectly happy to bend a rule here and there if it means getting the job done.
Full Image
Update - 05-11-2013 A nice closeup of her armor and her face. As an eyeless Miraluka, D'akemi is blissfully lacking in any concept of asthetic, which is a pity since this simple starter outfit really suits her well in my opinion. Note the scarring on the right side of her face. They told her not to pick at it... -_-

Update - 05-11-2013This starter armor seems like a cross between military and Samurai-style armor. It's perfect for a fledgling Jedi. Here D'akemi brandishes her Vorpal Nerf Bat training saber, leery of Jahnn's approach.

Update - 05-11-2013Much progress has been made at this point and D'akemi's sporting a much more sophisticated outfit now.
She's working on her lightsaber at the Forge on Tython, as her newly-appointed partner Chevran covers her back off-camera.

Update - 05-11-2013 Annnnnnnd construction begins. Concentration, skill, and lots of power in for Force are required to assemble the venerable weapon, but D'akemi rises to the challenge and emerges victorious.

Update - 05-11-2013 It's kind of cool watching the lightsaber put itself together over the Forge. The seperate parts of the housing seem to weld themselves into place as they meet.

Update - 05-11-2013 It's left ambiguous how much of this process is typical lightsaber-building, and how much of it is done by the Forge. It also makes me wonder, with all the varation in lightsaber hilt design among Jedi: were there lightsaber casemodding expos in the Old Republic?
Full Image
Update - 05-11-2013It's a quiet moment of personal victory for the young Jedi Knight, as her newly-completed lightsaber levitates its way slowly to her hands.

Update - 05-11-2013And the weapon works perfectly! I'm fairly certain that the She-Rah Princess of Power theme song began playing as the blade ignited.

Update - 05-11-2013While unintentional, D'akemi quickly found herself steeped in the intricacies of Coruscant fashion. I really love how cute this outfit looks on her. Just a confident, well-toned young woman ina comfortable Jedi Hoodie.
Full Image
Update - 05-11-2013A nice profile of her Jedi Hoodie outfit. The straps and buckles are a nice touch. Tohru notes, though, the sexist undertones this outfit represents: if a male character were to wear this same outfit, it would appear as a long-sleeved body-covering shirt rather than the revealing halter it is on a female. The unfortunate, unintended implication is that women are expected to reveal themselves, while men are not. Same deal with the dancer costumes, really. It's not that she (or I) think skimpy outfits are bad... just that they're bad when they exist only for one gender. It makes the statement that this one gender were somehow "meant" to wear skimpier clothes.
Still, it looks really cute on her. :D
Full Image
Update - 05-11-2013 At the same time, neither I nor Tohru can deny that this shirt suits D'akemi very well, especially on a hot, sunny planet like Coruscant. It's tough and functional, but also fashionable and very cute. ^.^

Update - 05-11-2013 A nice closeup of D'akemi in her hoodie, explaining to some random passer-by that no, Chevran's comments are not representative of the Jedi Order. It's kind of funny how D'akemi becomes the "good one" when paired up with Chevran; she's actually quite rebellious herself and she happily breaks the rules if it helps her acheive a goal she beleives in. With anyone else, D'akemi would be the bad girl. With Chevran, she's the straight-woman.

Update - 05-11-2013D'akemi is rewarded with a new set of heavy armor! These blue robes match partner Chevran's Noble Consular's Vestments, giving the unlikely pair a team uniform look. The buckles on the gloves and tight pants work well with the robe, and the hood merges with her Miraluka's veil so naturally that you'd never know they were two different 3D objects. It's a good look for D'akemi; I just wish the corresponding light armor looked as good on Chevran...

Update - 05-20-2013Finally decided to put up some more screenshots I took of D'akemi's new robe. The dark colors match up well with her face veil, and also with her shades-of-grey morality.
Full Image
Update - 05-20-2013A nice closeup of the new outfit. The sightless D'akemi struggles to understand the point to Chevran's insistance that their mission be documented in holo-images.
Full Image
Update - 05-20-2013Chevran (and I) think that a blue saber is far too gauche for a sophisticated up and coming Coruscant-elite like D'akemi. D'akemi, however, is proud to sport the traditional Guardian's color on her blade.
Full Image
Update - 05-20-2013D'akemi pumps a fist in anticipation of her next fight. I wasn't sure that the gray leggings really worked with the robe all that well, initially. But it's grown on me. It gives you the feeling that there's a practical flight suit or tanktop/halter under the robe, a neat blend of Jedi tradition and modern practicality.
Full Image
Update - 05-20-2013Cool closeup on her saber, you can see some of the detail in that hilt. D'akemi means business, clearly.
Full Image
Update - 05-20-2013D'akemi and her new best friend Kira! These two were buddies from the moment they reacquainted back on Coruscant. Their attitudes and philosophies are perfectly in sync. As is their love of tormenting troublemaking Jedi Chevran. Poor Chevran...
Full Image
Update - 05-20-2013D'akemi and Chevran survey the area around a new taxi point. Chevran is unimpressed with the lack of scantily-clad Twi'lek girls or alcohol vendors. D'akemi seems momentarily overwhelmed by the sheer scope of Coruscant's many districts, before her preternatural senses adjust.
Full Image
Update - 05-20-2013A touching holo-image of the girls taken by Chevran, and totally photobombed by attention-whore T7. Hey, droids need attention too, right? Especially from the lovely ladies. Chevran approves.
Full Image
Update - 09-07-2013And now D'akemi's "look" starts to come into its own, as she obtains a set of robes fashioned after the fabled Last Handmaiden. The outfit suits her dedication to the light and her endless inner strength, even if she's not voiced by the super-talented and sexy Grey Delisle.

Update - 09-07-2013
Some nice detailing on the outfit's uppers. The hood seems to hang less rigidly than most Jedi robes', giving it the feel of a thin or silky material. It's a very tight-fighting outfit too, as Chevran's certainly, enthusiastically noticed. You can't help but suspect that D'akemi knew that would happen when she chose the outfit.
And yet she chose it anyway. >.>

Update - 09-07-2013
We can assume this shot was the product of Chevran's intensive camera-work.
There's some cool detailing on the lowers of the outfit, though. Lots of little creases and wrinkles at the joints that give it a tight-but-stretchy appearance. It's a very pretty outfit.

Update - 09-07-2013
And a nice profile shot to showcase the outfit's haughty yet almost innocent appearance, as well as a great example of just how pretty our amazonian Jedi Knight is, even if she doesn't realize it. That weird collar-assembly thing seems kind of pointless but also fits nicely with the otherwise-plainjain arrangement of the clothing.
Chevran: "Kind of kinky, too." And five seconds later, the local medical service had to be called.
